August is a perfect time to begin thinking about Fall and planting bulbs. The weather starts to change and allows us to get a jumpstart on your spring garden. If you haven’t already, place your orders for spring bulbs, you still have time especially if you are in a warmer climate. If the weather stays warmer than expected you can always pop your bulbs in the fridge to chill. You can pre-chill your bulbs as long as 6 to 10 weeks.
However, sometimes getting bulbs in the ground may be challenging. One of the reasons I created the Dirty Little Digger is to make it much easier for both the beginner and master gardeners to plant bulbs! The Dirty Little Digger is also known as the 6-in-1 gardening tool. When the Dirty Little Digger is a bulb planting tool it will allow you to prepare a hole for planting a bulb any size.
The spoon shape has etching with measurements of 1” – 4” to allow you to dig to the depth recommended for each type of bulb. The Dirty Little Digger also provides at least 5 more garden tool uses if not more! Use it as a cultivator, trowel, weeder, scoop and horni knife, too! It is made from durable and tough stainless steel and sharp serrated edges for easy cutting roots and vines. In addition, the Dirty Little Digger provides a pointed tip to break up tough dirt, rocky soil and clay to easily make trenches and furrows for planting seeds and bulbs. In addition, it is made with a special silicone, easy grip handle to provide comfort and a firm grip!
